I enjoyed reading about the experience of going through hurricane Katrina from a unique young girl. Lanesha is a 12 year old girl, and I loved how much we learn about her character, including the special ability to see ghosts. She's definitely on the "young side" of 12 - but so what, so are lots of kids. The only thing that I would have liked more of would be longer, more vivid descriptions of what happened during the hurricane. Still, what happened after the hurricane, with the rising of the water was well done. This book explained a lot without being preachy.
