Read this if you care about health care (we all should)

How Medicare and the health care industry are constructed to over-perform and over-prescribe that which makes more money for hospitals and physicians instead of developing and adhering to evidence-based medicine best practices. Many examples of this phenomenon as well as the historical perspective to explain how we got where we are. She looks to the VA (and Mayo, Kaiser) as a model of the direction to head in to bring costs down and life expectancy, quality of life up. Extremely well researched, frequently citing medical journals and court cases.
