My father bought me this book after I asked him about how to go about investing money (that I have yet to earn...). He said it lays out the basics quite well, and I suppose he is right. My main issue with this book is that it was way too motivational and not informational enough. The time it takes to read 8 chapters about why you should take control of your financial life (so that you can be a balanced, courageous, and beautiful woman, and so on) could better be spent learning how to do so. My secondary issue with this book is that it does not seem to have been written for women of my generation. She seems to spend quite a bit of time convincing the reader not to be dependent on men and not to be ashamed of her dysfunctional or nonexistent relationship with money. It is more appropriate for a middle-aged miserable housewife tied down with debt and with no bank or retirement accounts of her own who cannot divorce her husband because she can't afford it, and on top of that does not know the difference between a checking and savings account.
