The Flame Alphabet by Ben Marcus

An apocalyptic circumstance of a different kind slowly turns the country upside down, abandoned, and divided. Sam and his family live a normal life until children all across the nation begin an epidemic of biblical proportions. The speech they expel is literally toxic, and causes sickness among adults. All grown-ups flee to separate locations including underground. Sam sets out to save his family and find the answers to why this generation has the power of poisonous speech, and why God has written The Flame Alphabet.
Ben Marcus has written an original twist to the legions of apocalyptic books that are on the market today. Unlike other books of its kind, this non-violent story has a common thread of religion tying it all together...predominantly of the Jewish faith. The Flame Alphabet is an odd fresh idea that provokes the reader to think about..."what if"...
