I just rented this movie from Blockbuster a few days ago. I have had the book sitting on my shelf since it came out in hardcover. I decided to be a true nut and read the whole thing before I watched the movie and see how badly they ruined it. Or how faithful they were. Luckily, Blockbuster doesn't have their late fee's anymore.

Well, I jammed through the thing, not only because I wanted to watch the movie sooner than later, but because I couldn't put it down. To be honest, I didn't really like the book. It didn't scare me like I thought it would. Like I wanted it to. Killer vines? Really? Didn't scare me.

Of course, what scares and creeps you out more than......your own damn stupid self? I finished the 319 page book and immediately stopped thinking about it. I started thinking, what the hell would I do in that situation? How would I react? How long would it take until I cracked? Broke? Fell apart? Died?

What choices would I make, good, bad, smart, stupid, brave, cowardly, helpfu...more

133661 This is what happened to me. I was with Lun*na and another pair, when the tire fell apart on the way to Vegas around 11:30 P.M. We pulled over and there is nothing out there except darkness and the stars at night. Once in a while a truck would pass by in great speed - but beyond that it was total darkness.

What made it worst was that we had a weak flashlight, and we did have a cell phone, but we had a hard time to tell the AA where we were exactly at because of the total darkness.

So what's scary is the silence of the desert as well. It was death. Beyond death. I never felt so scared in my life. I imagined birds plucking our eyes out in the next morning. That is what i was thinking. Is the book as scary as that?

Oh and the AA driver who came by looked like Bob from Twin Peaks. That's scary as well!

354189 "Of course, what scares and creeps you out more than......your own damn stupid self?" As the old Scottish prayer says,
From ghoulies and ghosties
And long-leggedy beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!
