Harlan Coben is my favorite author. He can weave a mystery like no other. If this book had been written by anyone else, it would probably be a 4 star book, but as a Harlan Coben book it falls short. The writing is fast paced, but it feels sloppy and for a lot of it, doesn't go anywhere. I usually devour every word, but I found my self skimming until something happened. There weren't all the great twists and turns to which I've become accustomed. The characters felt tired and flat.

I will say that Coben knows how to write sadistic, violent killers (Winn is a prime example). Barbie and Ken are the most interesting characters in the whole book. I really hope Coben's next book is better and gets back to the writing style I love.
