Wow what a good little evil book. A simple premise, middle-aged man remarries a 40-year old attractive woman who makes his life exciting ( and his rituals show he needs some excitement) through love and fantastic sex. Enter his prepubescent son on the first page who writes a glowing letter in praise of his stepmother on her birthday. She wants to win him over and is touched by his sincerity. The boy tries hard to please her and she feels better than ever with her new family. By using a series of stories based on selected paintings by Boucher, Titian and Bacon the erotic tales become entwined with lust, depravity and manipulation. This is a real page turner and despite being short, very naughty. Even Vargas Llosa plays with the title referring to it as an erotic thriller. It is!
