I'd never read Ali Smith before, but after this I'm gonna.
A modern take on the Iphis myth which challenges gender, Smith delivers a poignant tale about two sisters living in Scotland. One will do whatever it takes to scale the corporate ladder. The other sister is passionate yet directionless, unable to fit into the traditional 9 to 5 job, until she meets a girl who looks like a beautiful boy. They fall in love and crusade against the sister's unethical company, putting the siblings at odds.
The prose is delightfully fresh and straightforward.
If you like Jeanette Winterson, but think you need more story and less poetry, read this!!!
