Hmm.. not sure what I expected. Solar radiation has melted the ice caps and flooded the rest of the world. The characters here reside in the tops of buildings above flooded London. Initially, they are meant to document changes in flora and fauna, but they are soon expected to evacuate and move further north. However, the reversion of the world into a new Triassic age is affecting their minds, and sending them back to a pre-human consciousness? Some want merely to stay around the London lagoon, but others are actually drawn south towards the even hotter equator. Eventually some looters show up, forcing them into action. This book was written in 1962, and perhaps modern readers want more plot or action, but I thought it was interesting. It doesn't give a lot of answers though.
