Harry Hole is in the dope dens of Hong Kong when a female detective from Norway finds him and forces him back to Norway to work on a case that might be the work of a serial killer. Two women are found murdered with no clues left behind. Then another murder but in a different fashion and Harry and his team keep ahead of Kripos in finding clues.

Harry has to keep ahead of police politics and at the same time find the killer. He is betrayed and loved by the same person but Harry has his own drummer beating which makes him sometimes a frustrating character. But enjoy the book
