This was a wonderfully imaginative book - I believe it was written in the early 1900's. I loved the personification of the furniture, especially the alligator (a green couch by day)! I couldn't give it more stars simply because the last chapter of the book was missing (on my Kindle)! I read at the end of the book that Grabo died before he actually finished the book, and the last chapter was written by someone else; if I wanted to read this chapter I would have to go to a specific website. I didn't bother - I was satisfied with what I read, know it would end happily. I do recommend it, however.
