Another absolute classic.
The book is written for children but the early 20th century author had a nichefor making his writing enjoyable by adults. Much like Carrol, the author seems to be enjoyed more by adults and has some complex themes that can be explored.
One of the great things about the book is the characters. Almost immediately, the reader picks out a character or combination of characters that is almost archetypal of his/her own personality. I personally find myelf idntifying most with Badger.
There is a bit of mysticism involved and this might also go along with the psychology in the book. Without ruining the storyline, I think Toads ambitions, desires, self aggrandizement, etc are reminiscent of someone battling with alcohol. I think this would be good for Alcohoics Anonymous. I wonder if there is any literature out there regarding Toad's desires and addiction?
Additionally, I think there is a lot of Class and sociolgy stuff going on in the stories. Each ch...more
