Horten's Miraculous Mechanisms: Magic, Mystery, & a Very Strange Adventure

Review of an advance copy:
Stuart is not excited about moving right at the start of summer. He figures he will be bored and have no friends. But he is not counting on the adventures awaiting him, courtesy of the great-uncle he never met. This story is full of magic - mostly stage magic, yes, but also some of the real thing. I enjoyed following Stuart and his new next-door neighbor and friend, April, as they try to find all of the clues before they are destroyed or found by someone else. Although it is described as Wonka-esque, I think it is more a combination of Edward Eager's magic and the bizarrity of Patrick Carman's Floors. Regardless, this is one of those magical adventures that you just wish would happen to you.
