I loved MAID FOR LOVE from the start. I fell in love with the characters and the emotions that both characters went through.

First off, I have to say how wonderful it was to see a man who went against his family, town expectations, and actually had a heart. I haven’t read a male character like Mac McCarthy in a really long time. He wasn’t after Maddie’s body and respected her in every way possible. He took instantly to her son, Thomas and never thought twice about not having a relationship with Maddie because of him.

Coming home for medical leave from his stressful business, Mac McCarthy isn’t looking forward to the stay. The small town island felt restricting when he was growing up and he can’t see things being different now. With his father considering selling the family business, McCarthy Gansett Inn, Mac also needs to make repairs to the buildings.

He’s not on the island five minutes before he steps in front of Maddie Chester and sends her flying over the handle bars. Mac carries her to a family doctor all the while listening to Maddie fear for her job if she doesn’t show up. While she’s getting cleaned up, he learns she works as a maid for his family and calls her supervisor.

When he learns she has a son, he really takes charge and insists on helping her not only home, but help with watching her 9 month old, Thomas, her job, and her part time baby-sitting gig she does for her sister.

Maddie fights Mac’s insistence on helping her. With her past where rumors spread about her being an easy lay, she’s not easily swayed into believing he’s honestly just trying to help with no secret motive.

From the beginning, Mac just wanted to help, but as he steps into her shoes at work and hears the rumors about her, he begins to see his feelings go deeper than just trying to help. He goes against his mother who believes he is too good to be around a woman with Maddie’s past. As he works to convince her to give him a chance he begins pondering the idea to sell his part in his company and take over the family business.

Mac and Maddie go through many stages in their relationship. They take on rumors, Thomas’ father’s reappearance, his mother, and the rumors that plagued her her entire life. However, when Mac attempts to discontinue the rumors by getting the truth out there and the truth goes public in the paper, Maddie kicks him out of her life.

With a break, both realize the depth of their feelings, but true love prevails and soon they will marry with the blessings of both of his parents, her sister, and the town.
