Read from May 01 to 28, 2009 — I own a copy, read count: 1

An opening that definitely captures the reader's attention. This is exemplary and one that will be used as we teach good openings.

Good language. The plot change seemed a bit contrived, but this is well written. I would have enjoyed the story just as much without the racial subtext. Maniac is a compelling character as are Amanda, and Mars Bar. The McNabs and Grayson could have easily been dropped for me.

Because of the pillhouse, this is not a book I am comfortable reading to children.
