I started this yesterday afternoon, and finished it this morning. I was fascinated by the details about Charles Lamb, and the German Occupation of Guernsey. I felt (and it was good to feel, better to imagine him...) that I would have liked to know more of Kit's father...and I also felt, a sense that with this particular story, it seemed somehow part of the narrative that Mary Ann Shaffer should have started the book, and then left it to her niece to finish. A story, that cannot possibly even have an addition written to it, and the best stories are like that. I never felt a need to know what Scarlett did next, or how Elizabeth and Darcy did as married couple, and my imagination is more than adequate to keep Kit, Juliet and their friends existing without any help on Guernsey.
