bookshelves: gave-up-on, to-read

This book I find takes a ton of energy and concentration to read. His previous book, Moab is My Washpot was equally challenging, but I felt that I, personally, was getting enough out of his story for the slow or confusing bits to be worth it. I felt that the insight he gained from his adolescent years might help me understand my own. However, the stage of life Stephen covers in this book is very far away from me and therefore the baffling sections become frustrating. For example, at one point he went on for a couple pages about the various junk food and candies he ate as a child. That whole section meant nothing to me because everything he named was popular in the 70's in England.

Perhaps I am too lazy or stupid for this book, but I still hope to come back to it one day, maybe when it's more relevant to me, or maybe when I've become less lazy!
