"Innocents" by Francesca Segal is set in a Jewish enclave in London. It is a book to be read slowly and with relish!
The "Innocents" are Adam and Rachel, childhood sweethearts, who have been raised by a loving, all encompassing Jewish family community.
Adam, the man of his family since the early death of his father, struggles with the status quo of his life. Rachel is serene and unquestioning of hers. Enter Adam's lust interest which gives him a tantalizing glimpse of what "could" be. Little did he know what family forces were at work around him!
A love story in every sense of the word, this gentle unfolding story, told with wit and extraordinary empathy, will stay with you for a long time. It is sure to be a favorite with Book Groups.
