There's an awful awful lot of death in John Dies At The End. As well as lots of monsters, ghosts, demons from hell, and what have you. But despite lots of gooey, gory, and bloody scenes this is more a comic novel than a horror story. It's delightfully funny at times. On the other hand, there are too many times when the humor becomes pretty much childish.Which is unfortunate, because in my opinion, this could have been a much better novel if it hadn't stooped to such sophomoric levels of humor as often as it did.
