With nice descriptions of small town life and quirky characters (my favorites are Gabriel and Lucas) this is a really atmospheric story. The plot does move along, but without urgency. I would recommend this book to someone looking for a melancholic and reflective book. There is an interesting plot twist toward the end of the story. It won the Printz award and I think it's a good book, but it was not nearly my favorite book of last year.
