This book took me a long time to read - not because I was bored, but because Kingsolver's prose detailed things I know very little about (everything from raising poultry to canning tomatoes). This book creates an engaging discussion about what we eat and how what we eat has a bigger affect on the world around us than on our waistlines. This book is not a five star book (would have given it four and a half if I could) because Kingsolver gets a little repetitive on her points about fossil fuels, etc - she and I are definitely on different sides of the political fence, but we share a love of food, cooking, gardening, and laughter that seems to go hand-in-hand with preparing and eating dinner with family and friends. Great read and great recipes/menus to try!
