** spoiler alert ** Weak for a Dresden Files book. Honestly, to me the plot was kind of a hot mess, all over the place...if someone asked me "what happened in this book?" it'd go something like this:

"Well, there were these people dying mysteriously...and a coven of female magic practitioners..and Thomas was acting really weird, but then it turned out to be okay...and then Harry's long lost first love/ex showed up...there was a fight on a boat and then this really bizarre, out of place and lengthy flashback...then something about mysterious people cloaked in darkness...then....uh...politics. Vampires. Lots of ghouls and gore. Big explosion. Marcone is a shifty badass. Oh, and Molly had some kind of epiphany and Ramirez is a virgin. Lasciel-in-Harry's-head grows a conscience and nobly sacrifices herself. And everyone thinks Harry and Thomas are gay for each other. *Again.* On like two or three different occasions. I swear Jim Butcher ships them."

And there's more than that. It's a mess, I'm telling you. That's why it only gets 3 stars, because while it was enjoyable overall, at certain points I kind of just wanted it to be over.
