What a delightful surprise! This police procedural mystery is realistically set in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Anyone with any familiarity with that part of the country will immediately recognize the speech patterns and some stereotypical characters. Yet the plot is anything but stereotypical. Someone is murdering people, following the plot of a new video game that is in the pre-release stage. The creators of the game are an especially unusual group of geeks, who have past secrets of their own. Yet they may be the only ones who can help the police solve the crimes and prevent the new ones before they happen. If only they weren't also suspects. Detectives Leo Magozzi (who is definitely not your traditional Minnesotan) and his partner Gino Rolseth have their work cut out for them. I found the banter between all the characters to be exceptionally well done in this novel. Enjoy!
