Taken (Elvis Cole, #13 / Joe Pike, #4)
by Robert Crais
by Robert Crais
Good stuff, as usual. Crais sometimes takes a long time between books, and it's almost always paid off. This one is no exception when it comes to the action and adventure, and we learn a little more (not much, but a little) about Pike and his sometimes partner Jon Stone. In fact for a while it seemed like Crais may be setting up Stone for his own spinoff series of stories.
This one is about the human trafficking trade and its brutal consequences. Getting to the end was a wild ride, and when I finally got there it kind of sneaked up on me- I wasn't really ready for the full resolution when it came, though it was a satisfying wrap up.
If you haven't read any of the Elvis Cole or Pike novels yet, don't start with this one; once you get to it you'll enjoy it as much as I did, I'm sure. If you're familiar with the territory you'll definitely like this one, too.
