Excellent writing and charming illustrations pair up to make this unique story a classic. It provokes questions and musing on the what makes someone a mommy or daddy. It gives a very good, yet simpified reasons for adoption. And while it's detractors feel it's pushing an agenda, I think the story communicates it's message with light gentle touch.

Also, baby hatching penguins are really cute.
