At times I found this book rather dull and heavy-going with its lengthy descriptions of military life - training, marching, following orders...

Having said that, it did have somthing of an old fashioned fantasy charm about it, and certainly was free of cliches. The lead character is a strong but humble woman, and Moon doesn't resort to "feisty heroine" stereotyping which is refreshing.
