This novella, provided by netgalley, was wrong on so many levels.
By way of explanation, this involves the hero and heroine and the heroine's sister from Confessions of an Improper Bride. The hero and heroine in that were caught hard at a game of hunt-the-sausage at a ball about seven years before, and subsequently ostracized from Society.
Well, seven or eights years forward, the hero and heroine are now married, and are attending the same annual ball. Now, this was the first red flag to me. I can't imagine on what planet anyone giving a party (that isn't specifically an orgy), in whatever century, would actually invite two people who'd decided to use their furniture for distinctly unorthodox and rather messy purposes.
Now, if I remember correctly from Confessions of an Improper Bride, sister Olivia is a bit of a prissy missy (I apologize if I've got that wrong), but in this novella, she's an irritating idiot. OK, so she doesn't understand the subtleties of Society, but, I think any woman understands when she's making a cheese of herself. And, here's a quick pointer for you - when married bloke asks if you want to go see the the private rooms upstairs after giving you booze, I think you should say no.
So, don't waste your time. 1 star, and I really want those 30 mins back that I spent reading this tripe.
