This is a thought provoking book that raises a lot of issues about what constitutes a family. It tells of five toddlers who are found alone in a boat tied up to a dock in Peurto Rico after a hurricane.No-one knows who they are or where they came from and not even which nationality they are or if any are blood related. They grow up raised by different families but nothing disturbs the unshakable bond between them. That is until David, who has been diagnosed with cancer, wants them all to take DNA tests to find out more about their origins. But some of them would rather not know.
I nearly gave this four stars as I found myself thinking about the charcters when I wasn't readng it but the ending seemed a little rushed to me. Still, it's well worth a read even if all the characters aren't always likeable.
