I was really fascinated by the subject of this book. I would have given it more stars, based on the story and subject matter. It takes place in Russia during WW1 and the Russian Revolution. It is told from the Russian Jewish perspective. I enjoyed learning about this point of view. The characters all had potential to be really interesting. But there just wasn't enough character development to form a bond. And therefore, I was not so emotionally attached. The story also lacked a little development. The skeleton characters and story line worked. But, in my opinion, it just needed more.
