I had a lot of fun reading this book.
The premise is terrific - what if you were marooned on an Arctic drilling rig when the Zombie Apocalypse struck?
That's what happens to the British crew of the Kasker Rampart platform. One-by-one the TV networks report mass carnage in all major cities - some kind of biting sickness. Then, one-by-one, they go dark and the crew is left wondering how they'll survive.
They didn't reckon the plague would approach them, first from a dead Russian Cosmonaut then from a plague-ridden cruise ship.
Baker's story nods to The Thing and George Romero are evident and the tension is high.
My one quibble is an apparent lack of logic in the plot.
But it's only a minor quibble.
Well worth a night's entertainment.
