We know that not all children come from the same type of home. This is an excellent book to read to children because it explains two types of homes a child may live in if she has divorced parents. This book will help young children understand that even though their parents live in seperate homes and are not together, that they are still loved. It is a great book to read when teaching children about families and diversity as well. I liked the illustrations in this book because they depicted some of the emotions a child might go through in a situation like this well.

Learning activity:

I will have children bring in a photo of them with their families. Each child will be given the opportunity to talk about their family. The children will be encouraged to explain how many siblings they might have and the things they like to do when they are with their families. I will have children draw a picture of this.
