For anyone interested in the UK after WW1, this is a 'must read'. Using govt stats, letters, interviews, etc the author pulls together a well-researched overview of the mood and economics of the UK after WW1.
The book is so well-written that I quickly learned to read this book only a chapter at a time so as not to be overwhelmed with the quiet despair/depression that seems to have filled the UK at that time. If I could give this book 6 stars out of 5 I would.(less)
