Freight Train is a Caldecott Honor Book, presented with a landscape layout. The landscape layout works perfectly for the book, because the story is literally about a freight train, and the wide pages are better suited for a long train to run from page to page. The typeface is constant throughout the book, with the exception of color. Within the story, the reader learns about the different cars that make up the freight train, and every color has a unique color. The color of the font correlates to the color of the car, i.e. the text that says, "Red caboose at the back," is presented in red font. This organization of colors and story make it fun for the reader. Again, the story was a little basic, without much of a message or meaning.
