Not worth reading. I kept hoping it would get better, but was constantly disappointed. The story centers around the death of a 10 year old boy of mixed parentage, Thai and Icelandic. Supposedly the underelying theme is the difficulties immigrants face when moving from a sub-tropical country like Thailand to a northern European country like Iceland. If so, it was very trite; I felt like I was being lectured, with the main characters cardboard cutouts..
Erlendur becomes a 2 dimensional figure; clearly his relationship with his children is not a good one, but the dialog is stilted and the actions described seem cartoon like. But enough. I'm not likely to read another one of his.
I agree 100% with lobstergirl.
