I read this expecting it to be like the TV show, which I love so much, and was quite disappointed when it was not what I was expecting. My Mom bought it for me for Christmas two years ago, being big fans of the show and I read it on that day. But as I stress I was disappointed. I felt like it was a wrap up and sorely bad fanfiction of the TV show. There were characters in the book that were mirror images of the TV show, which I thought was quite funny but the book was missing the light-ness of the Castle/Beckett relationship AKA (spoiler alert) Beckett would never sleep with Castle unless they both were incredibly drunk but even then I don't think it would happen. The book was not what I was expecting, I was fully expecting Castle and Beckett to be playfully teasing us with their feelings for each other without doing anything, which annoys me to no end but is also one of my favorite parts of the show. I know TV shows should be different from the books, but I felt that this time the TV show was so much better.

Heat Wave is the book, but there is TV show called Castle about the author named Richard Castle and how he gets to work at the NYPD and how he uses a certain detective, Kate Beckett as inspiration for his main character Nikki Heat.
