A sophisticated, very well written SF novel. It takes a much darker, complicated and ultimately more interesting path than this kind of science-fiction usually walks. It feels like the SFnal response to Milton's Paradise Lost or Golding's Lord of the Flies. Using the tools of science-fiction, Beckett creates something very exciting with this book that rewards the reader with an almost infinite number of things to think about.
