I got to Asimov's robot novels late. They are generally all good--I like this one the best. Sometimes, there's a sense of "product" in Asimov's work. (I suppose when you write 500+ books, that's inevitable.) But this is an unusually well-written and structured book. The flashback narrative of Daneel and Elijah's final parting moved me to tears...I thought of it recently when I saw Wall-E and concluded that the robots were far more interesting and likeable than the people. It's a scene and sentiment that Asimov would have approved of.
