bizarre is good in escapist fiction!

this story is an unapologetic adventure in the unreal. i found it in the young adults section of my public library and i suppose i see the draw for teens, but readers of all ages could enjoy this book. while the story bore no resemblance to that of The Chess Garden, i did find myself thinking the two were cast in similar molds. Think neverending story without the glitter (book, not movie).

well written and inventive. an excellent page turner.
