Recommended for: those working with children affected by war
Read in July, 2008

This graphic story is more about the impact of war on children than it is about a child soldier as such. Issues such as sexual abuse in the displaced persons camp come into it as well as the need for counseling for post traumatic stress. Facilitator's pages at the back include several sets of questions appropriate for different groups as well as learning activities. The child soldier goes through a cleansing ceremony before returning to school, but the difficulty of child soldiers returning to their families is only touched on and not dealt with in any depth.
