Allie's Basketball Dream was wonderful! It was about a young black girl (10ish?) who loved basketball. Her dad (who was prominent in her life- yay!) gave her a basketball for her birthday, and she finds she is not very good at it. She gets teased by everyone, mostly the boys, who tell her that she is no good because she's a girl. She keeps trying, with the encouragement of her dad, since she dreams of being a professional b-ball player for the WNBA. She even has a close friend (a white boy) who tries to trade his volleyball for her basketball (since it's "lighter", he thinks it will be easier for her to play with). Allie doesn't give up, and eventually she earns the respect of all those on the court.
