I loved the way the author captivated the reader's attention immediately on page one, starting from the very first sentence: " They took me in my nightgown". Read the first paragraph and you should be hooked!

This is a personal story about the Stalin purges - a time when children were taken from their homes for no other reason than the fact that their parents were educated or creative thinkers, and sent to slave labor camps in Siberia. All under the direction of a megalomaniac dictator called Stalin who ruled the Soviet Union (Russia) during World War II.
