This was a book I was really looking forward to. I met expectations as I learned about an event in WWII that I didn't know about before.

I hate to say this, but it doesn't make me want to go to New Guinea anytime soon.

It is about an unfortunate air crash that took place in the Dutch New Guinea,a hidden valley nicknamed Shangri-La, and the 3 survivors. It also became a story about the rescuers. It was in depth in parts. I skimmed it in parts. Ex. gliders

The only thing that surprised me is: Why didn't they use an amphibious plane like an expedition before them. They would have been able to get out of there a lot quicker. They just say it was written off as undoable.
