I love this book, I thought it was sweet and sad. It's about a family who loses everything they own in a fire so they had to start fresh. I felt that the community was nice to bring them furniture and food when they moved to their new house. They save money by putting coins in a jar so they can buy a chair that they can sit on and be comfortable on it. They get their dream chair which was a velvet rose armchair. The illustrations were nice! I see why it was a Caldecott winner. It was detailed and there was borders around the pages. I thought the message in the story was you can get through hard times if you keep moving forward in life and that if you want something you can save to buy it even if it takes along time.
