Hellboy Volume 7: The Troll Witch and Other Stories

I had the exact same thought when I accidentally watched some of that movie Van Helsing a coupla months ago.
The first time I saw a commercial for the Hellboy movie, I thought he was a big red 2-prong Lego. I have no cred but childlike wisdom.
You know that's a fair enough comment. It does get old and repetitive, and Mignola's later work ain't so hot, but there's a collection - I think it's called The Chained Coffin and other stories? It's pretty good. Same stuff you're talking about here, though. So maybe not for you.
I just always liked the way that Hellboy yelled out BOOM! when he punched people.

One star just for the art, which is amazing.
All these wonderful, rich and ancient fairy tales! Ironed out and pinned up as 2d backdrops so Hellboy can come in, punch someone, and run off. Why would a writer keep repeating the same formula like that, always skimming along the surface of these lush, magical stories. Why would people enjoy that, when all you can see is how much better it could be.
