One of the worst books I've ever read. The first ten pages made me sick, because it didn't even hook me in, although I was recommended this book. I thought that since the movie was bad, the book had to be great because good book = bad movie. But I was wrong. Lyra, a young girl and her Pan (animal spirit thing), do something to save children from a group called the "Gobblers". I basically got that from the book, and in the movie, I couldn't even understand what was going on, except that they were going somewhere and had a big polar bear with them. I would not recommend this book to anyone, for it's terrible plot and boring writing.
