I've been a huge fan of Matthew Reilly's work for several years, and while I enjoyed his last three books centered around the Jack West character, the Scarecrow novels were always my favorite. Thus I was excited to learn that Reilly's uber-Marine hero Shane "Scarecrow" Schofield was being brought back for this novel. In short, I was not disappointed. There is actually a bit more character development in this novel than in some of his others, but it does not get in the way of the seemingly endless pages of explosive, life-threatening action. As usual, the situations the characters find themselves in, and the constant hair's-breadth escapes, are not very realistic, but this is so much fun to read you won't care (or shouldn't anyway-- it's fiction after all!) Highly recommended for any fan of fast-paced thrillers -- they don't get much more fast paced than this!
