This is another example of why I continue to read Christian historical romances — the novelty of time periods and settings you don't normally see. I don't think I have ever seen a mainstream historical romance done on the subject of sailing yet. So this story was refreshing for me. That by itself is probably what gives this an extra star, for me anyway.

The rest of the story was actually a little more conventional for a romance — you could clearly tell who the hero was, and the arc of their relationship was more predictable. I don't much care for the fact that the antagonist was mostly purely villainous, though. It's hard for me to accept that as anything than a little too two-dimensional. So I had to remove that extra star for that alone.

All in all, though, I liked it.
