Again, I'm biased, but I think this is an extraordinary book. As the title suggests, the poems make use of historical/political figures, though I don't think this book is "political" in the slightest. I feel like it's intensely personal. I read Jeff's poems in graduate school, and back then, they adopted a similar window-dressing of sociohistorical situations, yet they never had the emotional core that these poems have. It's a moving book. I hope people read it.
