Being a new reader/viewer/listener of Sherlock Holmes stories, I am completely intrigued by the concept of reinterpretations of those stories. Reading this engaged me with the familiarity of "A Study in Scarlet," the addition of mythical gore, and the mystery of narrator.

It's a quick & entertaining read, and I loved to newspaper-style of the PDF version found online. Not only did the newspaper-style pull me into the setting, but entertained me with the advertisements calling on the characters of Victor Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll, Dracula & others.

Reading has the ability to build bridges to new genres and books. After reading "A Study in Emerald," I will definitely pick up some H. P. Lovecraft and others.
