"The Witch Doctor's Wife" is a drastic departure from Tamar Meyers' PennDutch series, with it's kooky characters and quaint customs. Here, she tells the story of the diamond industry in The Belgian Congo -- where she was born and raised as the daughter of white missionaries -- in the late `50's.
The information in the book is fascinating, but a good editing would have made it even more so. Too many characters and plot lines that seem to peter out with no clear conclusion were a problem. Despite these flaws, "The Witch Doctor's Wife" kept my interest which is what I really want in a book.
